Couture talking about diving? Oh and they saw each other. They both were looking at each other and both kept going. Sounds like Logan is just upset because Brown hits harder than him and it hurt. |

Ehh can think of the real turning point.
Actually it was better for the Kings, they were playing like dog poop until they got hosed on the quickwhistle. That seemed to kickstart them. But yeah, pretty shameless home team blog to not even mention it. |

Great game Sharks, completely dominant. Sat back a bit in the third and played defensive hockey, but still got the win. Looks like the calls evened up a bit, now it's best of 3...get the win in LA |

Wow, looks at all the Kings fans crying about the refs all the sudden...seems a bit hypocritical to me, but whatever...it's evened up now. Sharks just keep playing like you have been and we'll take this round |

I do get that it was a bit of a quick whistle...those go against the Sharks all the time...in fact this game as well...there was a quick whistle when Patty had the puck on his stick with an open net...true, it didn't roll in, but in less than a second it could have. Either way, as Sharks fans are WELL AWARE cause it gets called against us all the time...it's not when the whistle was blown, but when the Ref intends for it to be blown. In hindsight I can see why some see it as a bad call...I do, but I honestly don't feel TOO bad, it just feels like game two is finally evened up. Now lets see how Kings fans handle it, and if they are just going to be hypocritical. |

The only thing I will complain about is that fast whistle, besides that the Kings got out played in the first and second. If the Kings play the rest of the series like they did in the third the Kings will win. And I will be there for game six to give them that positive mojo. |

that's the only way Refs... I means Sharks are going to win! What a joke of game, just like your blog. I give it to SJ they outplayed us the 1st and 2nd period, but the refs got stop (frank)ing up the game already!!! And Couture is idiot that was collision, if Brown was going to cheap shot him he would do better job. - Kings1988
Yes. An early whistle, which was mentioned by the blogger, dumb@ss... & pretty much all of the other penalties (on both sides) were warranted.
Read your own post... The sharks owned the game until the 3rd....
Kinda tough to get things going at that late stage, dont ya think?
P.S. Hey Cam.... It's cojones, not kahunas. C'mon, man. |

The Sharks were out shot 18-3 after the Couture goal. The Sharks dominated the first 30 min. and the Kings dominated the last 30 min.. The difference was the franking ref who decided to blow his whistle to protect Niemi from allowing a goal.
The Brown/ Couture hit was mutual and for this blogger to say anything different shows what a piss poor blogger he is...cheap shot my ass! |

The Sharks outplayed the Kings most of this game (and really most of this series).
But the officiating needs to be better...on both sides.
Playoff hockey games shouldn't have their outcomes determined by botched calls/early whistles/bad penalty calls late in the game, etc. I understand refs are human and make errors...that's fine...but some of the officiating in this series has been downright awful and it hinders the play and the game.
The game last night should've gone to OT...who would've won? Who knows...but it should've gotten to that point. It's a shame for any sport to have that outcome robbed by brutal officiating mistakes.

You do a good job here. Your blogs are well written and you make fair points. Don't ruin it with this nonsense about Brown and Couture. Brown was chasing the puck in the offensive zone and Couture was taking a big loop around to go to the bench. That was interference on Couture. The officials missed it. Brown skated in a straight line blue line to blue line, Couture tried to get in his lane to buy time for his D. You know better than that. Besides, what about that Blindside cheapshot from Marleau to Brown on open ice? |

I like what Brown says here and after this past 9 year run in the playoffs with this group, it's how I have learned to deal with the random stuff that can happen in the playoffs.
“It was a quick whistle,” Kings captain Dustin Brown said. “That stuff tends to even itself out over the course of a year. Sometimes, you get a quick whistle your way. Sometimes, you don't.”

I will say that it was only the 2-1 goal, not a 2-2 goal, so it is unfair to say "it SHOULD have gone to OT" as who knows how the game changes after that. If they Sharks are heading into the 3rd only up a goal they might not get outshot 18-3 or w/e.

Neither shot was cheap. At best yah it was interference on Brown, but it wasn't a big deal. I'd say besides the TWO very quick whistles (yes, the Sharks had a quick whistle go against them too, it wasn't as blatant and clearly stopping a goal, but it could have been), I thought it was a finely officiated game.
It is also a pretty big oversight to miss not mention the non-goal Cam. You do a good job with your recap blogs for the most part, but skipping over stuff like that does not do you any favours. |

It's not about evening up, it's just an all around embarassment to the NHL. You guys had a goalie interference call against you tonight....I think it was Wingels or Galiardi... it was a joke, Doughty wrapped his legs up and pulled hkm down in the blue paint, and they called goalie intsrference. Really? What a joke.... Imagine if LA scored on THAT powerplay, and the whistke didnt blow early to negate the Kings good goal? We'd be talking about a 3-2 Kings win and it would still be a joke. This whole series has lost all validity. It's just a shame both ways. |

I didn't shed a tear over that one. Doughty did a good job drawing that one and almost forcing the ref to make a call there. I have no problem with that penalty at that point in time. |

Thats a joke dude. Why would you give doughty credit for drawing a bad call? There should be integrity. The NHL is looking more and more like a soccer league. I'm that fans are into that. |

uh, patty was still behind the net when the whistle blew. on the other end, the puck was already in the net.
credit to the sharks for taking it to the kings strong. i was at the game and sj was absolutely dominant for two periods. sitting back on their heels made a lot of folks in the arena nervous.
sutter needs to realize that putting colin fraser in the lineup is totally pointless. he doesn't win draws, doesn't check well, and now he takes ill advised penalties. give the sharks the pp too often and you're going to get torched.
other then the penalty he got, i thought greene played ok for his first game back. |

This is what bothers me as well. Hockey player's used to not dive out of pride. Now it is expected because drawing penalties is seen as a valuable asset. The player's are chipping away at the spirit of the game. The diving needs to stop league wide. Otherwise hockey becomes this league where grown men pretend to cry until the trainer puts magic spray on his leg and then rubs him out on ice. I don't want to watch public magic spray sessions, but the NHL is starting to look more and more like the Premiere League and submarines, just dive everytime trouble is near.
